JUNE 2008 Beyond the Barrel Opening Friday June 20th 5pm-9pm ![]() Youngstown Secret Garden by Kath Schifano The Niagara Arts and Cultural
Center (NACC) is hosting the Beyond the Barrel and Open House
on Friday, June 20th from 5:00-9:00pm. The semi-annual Red
Door/Red Balloon open house is the perfect opportunity for anyone interested
in the arts, classes for school aged children, theater, dance, music,
the gallery or just curious about the NACC to get the opportunity to
tour artist’s studios, see what is happening and meet the artists
that make up the NACC. This Open House offers the
public an opportunity to see and purchase various artwork, custom jewelry,
pottery and other items that the students in the 21stCentury
Community Learning Center After School Program made. All proceeds from
the student artwork will go directly back into the NACC’s After School
Program. In conjunction with the Open
House activities, the 5th Annual Beyond the Barrel
juried art exhibit will hold an opening reception in the Main Gallery.
Nearly 30 artists with 70 different pieces of art from Western New York
and Southern Ontario will have their work on display. A range of themes
and mediums make Beyond the Barrel a regional showcase of contemporary
artists. Judges Catherine Gillespie and Jonathan Rogers will award $1000
in prize money to selected work. There are door prizes, people’s choice vote for best artist studio and live entertainment. The Open House and Gallery
Opening events are free of charge and a great way to support local artists
and enjoy an evening of art, music and entertainment. Uniquely created
art and jewelry make great graduation gifts.
Please be sure to enter through
the red door on Portage Road and follow the red balloons to open studios.

![]() Kids Say No to Drugs, Yes to Fire Safety ! Our after school kids faced a cool October day last week to take a stand against drug abuse on the corner of Portage and Pine. This week they learned what to do in case of a fire. Thanks to our home town heroes for coming over to NACC and giving our kids such a fun and informative day.
